Xenolanguage: A Game about Human Memory and Alien Language
It's five minutes in the future and we've just made first contact. In Xenolanguage, you are a group of scientists tasked with deciphering an alien language. As you uncover meaning, you begin to see the world differently. You begin to see yourself differently.
A tabletop story game for 2-4 players in 2-3 hours.
Xenolanguage is currently in active playtesting and gearing up for a fall 2020 release.
What Makes Xenolanguage Different?
Xenolanguage is a tabletop story game about first contact with alien life, messy human relationships and what happens when they mix together. It gives a nod to movies like Arrival and Contact, but tells its own story. At its core, you explore your pivotal relationships with others on the mission as you uncover meaning in an alien language.
You play as a group of scientists bound together through a shared past with unsettled questions. Your task is to understand why the aliens are here and what they are trying to tell us.
As characters decipher the language, memories are awakened in them. They use these memories as the foundation for interpreting the meaning of the language. They grab the pieces they didn’t previously have words for, the complex parts of their lived experience, and discover those pieces in the alien language.
As they decipher the language piece by piece, the players use a shared channeling board to communicate with the aliens.
